A Magical Woodland Walk

The drive home from Trysil is a 10 hour trip and half-way home the kids needed a proper break and we all needed to stretch our legs. So when we saw a row deer playing around on a field near by, giddy with spring impulses, it seemed the perfect occasion to pull away from the highway and explore a bit. But nothing prepared me or us for the magic that undfolded when we did.

Our skiing holidays at Trysil in the Norwegian mountains has been a family tradition since I was very young. I now spend more time in my hiking boots with camera in hand at sunrise and sunset than on the slopes by day, but I love watching my kids fall in love with the snow, the mountains and the feeling of freedom when you rush down the mountain so fast the wind pushes tears drops out of the corners of your eyes.
